Its good chemical property enhances the performance and keeps the railroad tracks in good condition to a certain extent.
UIC60 rail is manufactured according to the rules set by the International Union of Railways. To be more specific, this type of rail uses the European Standard EN 13674-1. This European standard is for railroad rails of 46 kg/m and greater weight for railroad tracks. Nine pearlitic steel grades, ranging in hardness from 200 HBW to 440 HBW, are specified, including none non-heat-treated non-ox alloy steels, none heat-treated alloy steels, heat-treated none-alloy steels, and heat-treated alloy steels.
